More Shaw Media/Hot Docs Funds recipients named

Eleven Canadian documentary projects are receiving a total of CDN$242,000 in grants and no-interest loans from the Funds as part of the seventh round of disbursements.

Eleven Canadian documentary projects have been named as recipients of the latest round of Shaw Media-Hot Docs Documentary Funds grants and no-interest loans.

The amounts received by the projects add up to CDN$242,000 (US$256,600) for this seventh round of disbursements. In total, 73 projects have received CDN$1.8 million in grants and no-interest loans from the Funds, which consist of a CDN$3 million completion fund and a CDN$1 million development fund.

“The selection committees were enticed by the range of engaging and innovative projects submitted by talented teams from across the country, and it is our pleasure to be able to provide support for films in the face of an increasingly challenged documentary marketplace,” said Elizabeth Radshaw, Hot Docs Forum and market director.

Six projects receiving $182,000 in completion grants are as follows:
