OWN names distribution and strategy SVP

Meg Lowe, most recently senior vice president of distribution for Discovery Communications, will now lead sales and affiliate marketing and all carriage negotiations for OWN.

In her previous position with Discovery since 2010, Lowe oversaw its affiliate marketing and field sales team in securing carriage for Discovery’s portfolio of 13 U.S. networks. She also led carriage negotiations for Discovery’s suite of HD channels and its U.S. Hispanic networks, as well as its joint venture networks, The Hub and 3Net, which she’ll continue to oversee in her new position.

Prior to Discovery, Lowe was at MTV Networks for 15 years, most recently as SVP content distribution and marketing. In that role she oversaw distribution for all MTV and BET networks.

“Meg has proven her skills working with distribution partners across Discovery’s U.S. networks and MTV Networks, and I look forward to putting her expertise to work for OWN,” said OWN co-president Erik Logan.
