U.S. broadcaster NBC has picked up Darlow Smithson Productions’ (DSP) 90-minute special Children of 9/11, which it will air on September 5 at 10 p.m. EST.

As previously reported, the special is being made for Channel 4 (C4) in the UK, and follows a year in the lives of 11 children from six families across America, who number among the almost 3,000 children who lost a parent during the September 11 terror attacks in 2001.

The special is exec produced by Julian Ware and Tom Brisley for DSP, with Nacressa Swan the producer and Janice Sutherland the director. The commissioning editor for C4 is Tanya Shaw.
