TLC development director moves to Science

Brad Kohlenstein, most recently director of development at TLC, is moving to become senior development director at sister Discovery Communications network Science, where he will report to its general manager and exec VP Debbie Adler Myers.

Brad Kohlenstein, most recently director of development at TLC, is moving to become senior development director at sister Discovery Communications network Science, where he will report to its general manager and exec VP Debbie Adler Myers.

As the lead for Science’s development department, Kohlenstein will manage all stages of program development for the U.S. network and serve as the primary liaison to the external production community.

He is charged with creating and conceptualizing programming opportunities that satisfy “the audacious curiosity of the expanding Science audience,” according to the network.

“Brad’s proven track record, deep industry expertise, and acute imaginative intelligence make him a perfect addition to the Science team,” said Myers. “Viewers tune into Science because they want to be entertained, engaged and provoked to think.

“Brad absolutely understands this and will develop programming that will feed our core audience while also expanding the edges of our network.”

At TLC, Kohlenstein helped develop titles such as Sarah Palin’s Alaska, The Next Great Baker and DC Cupcakes. Before joining the network, he was the head of East Coast development for City Lights Media.
