Shine International, the sales arm of Shine Group, has licensed the format Clash of the Choirs (pictured) to China’s CCTV1.

The 10-episode order of the reality series, which sees celebrities going back to their home towns to recruit and coach an amateur choir to compete against rival choirs, is scheduled to premiere in early November.

The sale marks Shine International’s second format deal in China, after the recent sale of hair styling competition show Shear Genius to Shanghai Media Group (SMG). Zespa Media facilitated Shine International’s collaboration with CCTV1.

Cyrus Farrokh, Shine International’s director of international distribution overseeing Asia Pacific, said: “China is a key market for Shine International, so I’m thrilled to announce our second format deal in the country as we continue to build a footprint and format distribution in the Asia Pacific region with local productions of our major global franchises.”
