Israeli-based format shop Armoza Formats has signed a deal with Russian broadcaster CTC to produce a pilot of its Comedians at Work format.

The agreement marks the first deal the company has signed with a Russian broadcaster. The format, in which comedians join the work force and toil away at “normal” jobs and then deliver a stand-up routine based on the experience in front of a live audience, currently is airing its second season on Germany’s RTL.

It also recently launched on Norway’s TV2 channel and has been commissioned for a seventh season on Israel’s Reshet Channel 2.

“When you get comedy right, it can become a channel’s star program, spawning new talent for the channel and securing a long run of excellently-rated primetime seasons,” said Armoza Formats’ CEO Avi Armoza.

“We’re very pleased that our local partners in Comedians at Work in Germany and Norway have proven that the format’s recipe is a guaranteed hilarious hit, and we look forward to seeing a new incarnation in Russia.”
