Animal Planet returns to “Swamp”

U.S. net Animal Planet is bringing back Miami-set reality series Swamp Wars for a second season, which will kick off next month.

The six-episode second season of the 2C Media-produced show will premiere November 6 at 9 p.m. EST, with a further six episodes slated to air in 2012.

According to Animal Planet, season one of the series delivered 856,000 viewers this spring. The second season will see the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Venom One unit carry on its battle against the lethal animals that threaten South Florida.

A rapidly spreading Tegu lizard outbreak and the growing threat of the Nile Monitor lizard are among the challenges facing the team in the second season.

Chris Sloan and Carla Kaufman Sloan are the executive producers for 2C Media, and Calvin Simmons is co-executive producer. Erin Wanner is the executive producer for Animal Planet.
