Canadian producer-distributor Cineflix is further expanding into the U.S. with the launch of a Los Angeles office, to be helmed by Lisa Levenson (pictured), best known for exec producing The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.
Serving as executive VP of programming, Levenson will be charged with generating business for new and returning reality series, and over the coming months will look to build the new outpost by hiring a development exec and a casting exec.
She brings with her a slate of development ideas and projects, and takes the helm at the new office effective October 17.
Talking to realscreen, Levenson said the move came about after a period spent working with Cineflix on a production for ABC. “I worked on a pilot for ABC called The Great Big American Auction with Ty Pennington, so on and off we’d been working together for the past year,” she said.
She added that “the incredible talent pool of producers, directors and stars” on the West Coast meant it was “absolutely the right time” for the company to expand westwards.
Previously, Levenson had a multi-year, overall deal with Next Entertainment during which time she exec produced 14 seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. She also exec produced High School Reunion, The Real Gilligan’s Island and Trista and Ryan’s Wedding, and joins Cineflix from Warner Horizon Television, where she held an overall production and development deal.
Cineflix CEO of programming Simon Lloyd, who Levenson reports to, added: “We have already had considerable success on the East Coast with an extensive slate of returning series from our Toronto and New York offices.
“We look forward to Lisa building on that success and creating a string of cable and network hit shows out of LA.”
Cineflix produces more than 400 hours per year, with titles including American Pickers, Property Brothers, Mayday, Conviction Kitchen and Nazi Hunters. In addition to its central hub in Toronto, Cineflix also maintains production offices in New York, Vancouver and London.
