Rosemary Newell (pictured) is joining her former Channel 4 (C4) colleague Julian Bellamy at Discovery Networks International (DNI) as project director of content operations based in London, and reporting to DNI chief content officer Luis Silberwasser.

In the role, Newell will be responsible for managing all commissioning processes and operations for the DNI production and development group, working closely with Bellamy’s team based in London and beyond.

She will also provide operational support to DNI across the world on all global content supply, including the Discovery U.S. output deal and Discovery program acquisitions.

Previously, Newell was head of channel management at C4 in the UK for 13 years. Silberwasser said Newell “has strong operational experience of the broadcast sector, which will be invaluable to us as we expand our new content development hub. Rosemary also worked closely with Julian at Channel 4 and is a terrific broadcast executive.”

The news comes after Bellamy in May joined DNI in the newly created role of creative director and head of production and development, as previously reported.
