AFI Fest to feature Herzog’s “Into the Abyss,” Wenders’ “Pina”

AFI Fest 2011, the Hollywood festival from the American Film Institute, will be including two docs in its Special Screenings selection next month: Werner Herzog’s Into the Abyss (pictured) and Wim Wenders’ Pina.

The 25th annual festival, held from November 3 through 10, will include the two docs amongst its line-up of feature films.

Herzog’s Into the Abyss, which investigates a triple homicide case in Conroe, Texas, will screen on November 6 and 7.¬† Pina, a 3D dance film capturing the work of choreographer Pina Bausch and her dance company, will screen on November 5 and 7.

The news comes as Pina was today named a nominee for the European Film Academy’s Documentary 2011 – Prix Arte.
