Nordic World signs up STV’s formats

Program sales alliance Nordic World has secured the exclusive distribution rights to the formats output from Scandinavian independent producer STV.

Under the distribution agreement, Nordic World will have first rights to any new formats devised by STV. Its catalog was formerly known as Scandinavian Rights.

One of the Denmark-based producer’s recent hits is the primetime, factual entertainment series Unexpected Visits (pictured), in its fifth year on Dutch public broadcaster EO. The format, which also aired on primetime in Denmark on DR 1, reunites family members living in different countries.

“For us, this is the dream deal: in one move, we have turned a powerful rival into a major asset, added more than 20 tried-and-trusted formats to our catalog and can look forward to introducing the next generation of STV hit shows to the world,” said Jan Salling, chief operating officer and director of sales at Nordic World.

René Szczyrbak, CEO and owner of STV, added: “We have seen the strong position on the global format market that Nordic World has secured for itself in less then a year. By joining forces with Jan and his team, we are confident that both our existing and future formats will perform even better on the international market.”
