A+E Networks UK has penned a deal with Polish platform Cyfrowy Polsat which will expand the distribution of its channels portfolio in Eastern Europe.
Cyfrowy Polsat is Poland’s largest DTH platform and pay-TV provider, with some 3.5 million subscribers and the fourth largest satellite platform in Europe. The deal sees the launch of History and Crime & Investigation Network Polsat effective immediately, while History HD is planned for launch in early 2012.
Crime & Investigation Network Polsat will be made available to the “Family” and “Mini” packages, while History will be available as part of the “Family” package.
“Poland is a key TV market in Central and Eastern Europe and Cyfrowy Polsat is a major platform and channel provider,” said A+E Networks UK MD Tom Davidson. “We expect this deal to have a significant impact on our business, and together with Cyfrowy Polsat we believe we can build on the success of A+E Network UK’s portfolio of channels in this market place.”
“Introducing new channels means development of our programming offer for our clients,” added Dominik Libicki, president and CEO at Cyfrowy Polsat. “With this partnership deal Polsat Television’s portfolio now offers 15 channels with a move into the new crime and investigation genre, which is proving extremely popular with Polish viewers.”
The Cyfrowy Polsat launch marks the fourth major distribution agreement for Crime & Investigation Network this year, following launches in Spain, Benelux and the Middle East.
