Phil Edgar Jones has been named head of entertainment for UK pay-TV network Sky effective immediately, in a role that will see him working across a suite of channels including Sky 1, Sky Arts and Sky Living.
Edgar Jones’ brief will range from populist shiny floor shows such as Got to Dance on Sky 1, to Jo Whiley on Sky Arts, and the upcoming Love Machine on Sky Living. He will also commission for Sky Atlantic and Sky Movies.
Edgar Jones most recently worked as creative director of UK indie Running Bare, where he exec produced shows including Very Important People.
“Phil has the contacts and relationships with the most exciting talent in the country, so I cannot wait to support him in taking Sky Entertainment across the Sky portfolio to the next level,” said Stuart Murphy, Sky director of commissioning and director of Sky 1. “I’d like to once again thank Duncan Gray, the outgoing head, and Antonia Hurford Jones, commissioning editor, for all their hard work in this transitional period.”
The network added that Murphy will soon appoint a head of factual entertainment to replace the outgoing current head Mark Sammon.
