Oprah Winfrey will revisit Roots, the landmark 1977 American television miniseries about slavery, with a primetime TV special set to air on OWN in January.

On Oprah and the Legendary Cast of ‘Roots’ 35 Years Later, the talk show host-turned-TV mogul will reunite the cast in her Montecito, California home to share personal accounts of working on the series and its lasting impact. Cicely Tyson, LeVar Burton, Leslie Uggams, John Amos, Louis Gossett Jr. and Ben Vereen are among the Roots cast memers confirmed to appear on the special, which was produced by Harpo Studios.

OWN will also bring back its Oprah’s Master Class specials, coproduced by Harpo Studios and @radical.media, beginning January 8. The series features in-depth interviews with Winfrey’s high-profile celebrity friends and associates.

Actors Jane Fonda, Goldie Hawn, Sidney Poitier and Morgan Freeman; media mogul philanthropist Ted Turner; musicians Reba McEntire and Jon Bon Jovi and athletes Laird Hamilton and Grant Hill are set to appear in 2012.
