Australia-based prodco Quail Television has hired Jay Kandola, former director of acquisitions for UK network ITV, to take on the newly created position of European manager on a consultancy basis.

Kandola will be responsible for taking Quail’s catalog to market across the UK and Europe. She has already pre-sold a Quail TV tele-movie and docudrama hybrid project to a UK broadcaster, according to Quail, and is currently helping reversion Quail’s scripted sitcom, At Home With Julia, for UK and European audiences.

Greg Quail, executive producer and founder of Quail Television, said: “Jay’s appointment is a firm signal of our intention to make a step change in our plans for growth in the UK and Europe. We’re ready to take our business to the next level and Jay’s wealth of expert knowledge, business acumen and editorial experience make her the ideal person to lead this charge. Indeed, even at this early stage, this new relationship is already bearing fruit.”

Kandola added: “[Quail's] formats have vast potential for success in Europe. I look forward to exploiting each one to its fullest and delivering results for this forward-thinking business. Through my consultancy for pay broadcaster Foxtel, I am very familiar with Australian producers and believe Quail Television is one of the most exciting independents operating out of Australia right now.”
