Discovery Channel will air the competition series World’s Toughest Truckers on February 13 following the season premiere of American Chopper.

Originally commissioned by Channel 5 in the United Kingdom, the format is a coproduction between Dragonfly and Group M Entertainment and pits six truck drivers against each other in a series of challenges. The winner receives US$150,000 and the title “world’s toughest trucker.”

Contestants hail from the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, Australia and Sri Lanka and must show off their skills in exotic locations. Challenges include transporting cattle through the Australian outback and hauling fragile loads through the Indian Himalayas and cast members include ‘Ice Man’ Derek Martin, a veteran driver from Canada, the fast-talking Alabaman Rookie, and the hot-tempered Aussie loner Rodney Johnson.

World’s Toughest Truckers is part of a ‘Toughest Truckers’ franchise. It was created by Dragonfly MD Sanjay Singhal, who is executive producing the series for Discovery alongside Sarah Swingler and Maria Baltazzi. David Pritikin is the EP for Discovery Channel.
