Travel Channel has appointed Marietta Hurwitz (pictured) to oversee the brand’s digital channels.
As senior VP and general manager of digital, she will be responsible for establishing digital content and strategy as the U.S. channel expands its multiplatform offerings. She will be based between the company’s Chevy Chase and New York offices.
Prior to joining Travel Channel, Hurwitz was a digital media consultant working for several clients, including Ovation Network and the Bouley Test Kitchen for Chef David Bouley.
She was also senior VP and general manager of Oprah.com where she worked across talk show queen Oprah Winfrey’s various programs and media brands including OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. Before that she was VP of digital marketing at Bravo Digital where she launched the web series Watch What Happens with Andy Cohen.
“Staying competitive in the digital industry, as well as continuing to be the travel expert for our viewers, are top priorities for Travel Channel,” said the network’s chief financial officer Shannon O’Neill in a statement. “Marietta’s strong background in digital marketing, content programming and strategy, mobile and business development makes her well positioned to lead current and future digital initiatives.”
