Syfy renews “Face Off”

Face Off, the special effects make-up competition series airing on U.S. cable network Syfy, has been renewed for a third season, to air in the summer of 2012.

Face Off, the reality competition series airing on U.S. cable network Syfy, has been renewed for a third season which will air in the summer of 2012.

The 10-episode series, produced by Mission Control Media, will begin production on season three in the spring and casting is currently underway.

In the upcoming season, special effects make-up artists compete in challenges and each week one of them is eliminated. The winning SFX artist wins US$100,000 and a year’s supply of Alcone make-up products, along with a car and the exposure to help launch a career in the industry.

Season two of Face Off currently airs on Syfy on Wednesdays. Its second season debut broke series records, bringing in 2.5 million total viewers, and guest judges include actress Vivica A. Fox and Star Trek: The Next Generation actor LeVar Burton.

Dwight D. Smith and Michael Agbabian of Mission Control will return as executive producers for the upcoming third season.
