London-based indie TVF International has picked up distribution rights for Testimony Films’ doc War Horse: The True Story, which looks at the British horses that served in the First World War.

As previously reported, the doc promises to look at the inspiration for Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-nominated blockbuster War Horse. It will premiere on March 4 on Channel 4 in the UK, and TVF will offer the title to international buyers at MIPDoc and MIPTV in Cannes in March and April.

TVF’s head of sales Jessica Bennetts said: “Testimony Films is unrivaled for bringing history to life in groundbreaking programming that open up the human depth of previously untold stories – and this is right up our buyers’ streets.”
