Red Arrow Entertainment Group has made its first investment in the UK non-scripted market, acquiring indie CPL Productions in a deal that includes a first look option for CPL on Red Arrow’s formats.

CPL is behind entertainment, comedy and factual entertainment programming including Alex Reid – The Fight of His Life and Louis Walsh and Kian Egan’s Next Big Thing – Wonderland.

CPL’s MD Danielle Lux, creative director Murray Boland, director of production Heather Hampson and commercial director Janet Oakes will lead the company following the takeover, with Red Arrow UK’s managing directors, James Baker and Joel Denton, joining the CPL Board.

As part of the deal, CPL has access to Red Arrow’s slate of formats, while CPL-produced formats and finished shows will be sold worldwide by Red Arrow’s distribution arm SevenOne International.

Jan Frouman, group MD of Red Arrow, said: “As it has been since the start, Red Arrow’s strategy is to partner with the best talent in key production markets around the world. CPL has proven to be outstanding at producing hit shows of the highest quality. As for the UK – if you’re serious about global production and distribution, you’re there.”

Lux added: “This deal puts CPL at the heart of a group of the world’s best producers and format creators as well as a powerful global distributor. Access to the world market is key to this next phase in CPL’s growth; Red Arrow will take our new formats out into the world and we will bring the best of theirs into the UK.”

Red Arrow Entertainment Group is a ProSiebenSat.1 Group company.
