ABC, Citytv to simulcast “Secret Millionaire USA”

Zodiak Rights has inked a deal which will see U.S. broadcaster ABC and Canada's Citytv simulcasting the third season of the undercover series Secret Millionaire USA, with the Canadian network also optioning the format rights for the show.

Zodiak Media-owned distributor Zodiak Rights has brokered a deal to simulcast the third season of U.S. network ABC’s Secret Millionaire USA on Citytv in Canada.

The company previously secured a similar deal between the two broadcasters for the second season of the U.S. version of its format. In addition to acquiring broadcast the rights to the finished 13 x 60-minutes series, the Canadian network has also optioned the format rights.

In the U.S. version of the series, wealthy Americans give up go undercover in poor towns in search of an unsuspecting local hero to bequeath at least US$100,000 of their own money to.

The format has been produced in nine territories globally, including for RTÉ in Ireland and through Zodiak Media’s RDF Television in the United Kingdom, where it is in production on an eighth season on pubcaster Channel 4.

Secret Millionaire USA will premiere on both networks later this year.
