U.S.-based distributor CABLEready has closed sales for long-running international favorite Inside the Actors Studio, as well as for Medical Detectives and Deals from the Dark Side (pictured).

Medical Detectives, which follows coroners, medical examiners, physicians, law enforcement officials, journalists and legal experts as they put together the pieces of intriguing crimes and baffling diseases, has been licensed by AETN in Asia for season 13. Also, RTL in Germany has picked up 200 episodes and TVN in Poland has licensed seasons 13 and 14. Taiga Productions in Japan has also picked up seasons 13 and 14, as well as 10 additional episodes picked up earlier in the year, while ABSat in France has licensed 116 episodes, spanning five seasons.

New episodes of the long-running series Inside the Actors Studio, also distributed by CABLEready, include interviews with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Johnny Depp and the cast of Mad Men. RTL has licensed nine episodes, Foxtel in Australia has licensed five episodes, and Sinema TV in Turkey has taken six new episodes. Deka Partners in Russia, Kanal 5 in Sweden and Pramer in Latin America have also licensed some of the new episodes.

Foxtel and TV4 in Scandinavia have licensed the first season of Deals from the Dark Side, a 13-part series from Buck Productions that follows escape artist and relic-hunter Steve Santini as he searches for dark and unusual artifacts and supernatural rarities.

CABLEready also reports sales for Avec Eric, starring celebrity chef Eric Ripert, to Fox in Portugal and Netherlands; Anthony Bourdain starrer A Cook’s Tour to MultiCanal in Spain; Food Trip with Todd English to Fox in Netherlands and TrueVisions in Thailand; and gardening series Recreating Eden to TrueVisions and Sitcom in Italy.

Lastly, Discovery EMEA has renewed Stunt Stars and licensed Way of Life, which focuses on little-known, exotic and often times near-extinct professions that have deeply rooted history and traditions. TrueVisions also licensed the five-episode Way of Life series.

“Program buyers all over the world came roaring out of the gates at the start of the year, and it really has not slowed down.  Many broadcast clients are launching niche channels, and that’s our specialty,” said Gary Lico, president and CEO of CABLEready.
