U.S. cable network CMT has partnered with Milojo Productions, the shingle from husband and wife actor-producers Mark Consuelos’ and Kelly Ripa, for six-episode series Cheer (pictured), to debut in the fall.

The one-hour episodes follow coach Patty Ann Romero and her 20-strong competitive cheerleading team on their journey to the world cheerleading championships. The series is in production now and will debut in September, complementing the seventh season premiere of CMT’s Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.

“Kelly and Mark’s passion for this project, along with the sport’s universal appeal, make this a fantastic project for CMT,” said Jayson Dinsmore, EVP of development and programming at CMT.  “This series, paired with the powerhouse Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, promises to be the next breakout hit on the network.”

Ripa added: “Having been a cheerleader, I know all too well what these girls give up to join forces and compete. After meeting Patty Ann we knew her program was the perfect place to show everyone what it’s all about.”

Cheer is produced by Milojo Productions with Ripa, Consuelos, Albert Bianchini and Julia Silverton serving as executive producers.
