ITV Studios Global Entertainment, Animal Planet enter partnership

The pact will see the distributor shop 150 hours of Animal Planet programming to all territories outside of North America.

Distributor ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) and Animal Planet have entered a partnership that will see ITVS GE distribute 150 hours of the Discovery Communications net’s programming to all territories outside of North America.

The partnership will begin in time for MIPTV, with ITVS GE taking content from Animal Planet’s current slate to the market. Titles coming to MIPTV include Gator Boys (10 x 1 hour), Call of the Wildman (32 x 30 minutes), North Woods Law (6 x 1 hour), Too Cute! (6 x 1 hour), Puppies vs. Babies (3 x 1 hour), and Bayou Prison (w/t, 8 x 1 hour).

“Animal Planet has a reputation for first class, internationally relevant factual and factual entertainment programming; and a brand which carries a strong resonance with audiences around the world,” said Maria Kyriacou, managing director of ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

“We are sure that ITVS GE’s global market expertise will help to expand the footprint for Animal Planet’s breakout content around the world,” added Rick Holzman, senior vice president of programming and scheduling at Animal Planet.
