Indie producer Back Roads Entertainment (BRE) has hired Rex Vigil to be its New York-based VP of development, reporting directly to company founder Colby Gaines.

Vigil will be responsible for the development and sale of original entertainment properties, focusing on content across multiple genres and responsible for concept creation, sizzle production, pitching and selling to a variety of network, cable and digital outlets. Prior to joining BRE, he most recently held the position of director of development for Hoff Productions in San Francisco, where he worked since 2004.

Back Roads was launched by Pawn Stars co-creator Gaines in December last year.

“Rex has a strong record of creating captivating programming and a history of bringing top shows to market,” said Gaines. “We welcome him to Back Roads Entertainment and can instantly see the tremendous value he brings to our organization.”

Vigil added: “This is a fantastic opportunity to not only leverage my years of development experience, but to do it with a team that is poised for tremendous things ahead.”
