Switchover appoints head of ent and factual channels

The Italian channel operator has appointed ex-Fox Channels exec Fabrizio Salini (pictured) to its board of directors and given him the newly-created role of head of entertainment and factual channels.

Rome-based channel operator Switchover Media has appointed Fabrizio Salini (pictured) to its board of directors and named him head of entertainment and factual channels.

The former Fox Channels Italia exec will oversee two new free-to-air digital TV channels – one entertainment and one factual -  that will roll out over the next few months. The company presently operates free-to-air kids digital terrestrial networks, K2 and FRISBEE, and pay channel GXT, which targets young males.

The entertainment channel, which will target an adult, female-skewed audience, will launch within the current fiscal year, and the factual channel will be male-oriented and will launch during the summer, pending a final board decision.

Prior to joining Switchover Media, Salini was in charge of Fox Channels Italia’s entertainment offerings (Fox, Fox Life, Fox Crime, Fox Retro and FX) and Sky Italia, where he managed the platform’s entertainment and movie offerings.

The addition of an experienced and competent industry professional like Fabrizio to Switchover Media’s management team will be a key factor to the success of our new adult targeted free-to-air channel brands,” Switchover Media managing partner Francesco Nespega said in a statement.
