U.S. Spanish-Language network Estrella TV is making its library of content available to platforms around the world for the first time, and has appointed Andy Weir to be head of its new content distribution division.

As Estrella TV’s senior VP of content distribution, Weir will be responsible for handling the distribution of the company’s more than 6,000 hours of original entertainment programming to the global marketplace, as well as offering formats based on several of the network’s original series brands.

Weir joins the network after serving as co-president and owner of content distribution company Northstar Media. Prior to Northstar, he served with Warner Bros Domestic Television in a 15-year tenure, most recently as senior VP of Eastern sales.

“Andy is recognized across the industry for his extensive track record of success in distribution of content across multiple platforms working on behalf of many of the world’s most prestigious entertainment companies and broadcasters,” said Lenard Liberman, CEO of Estrella TV.

Weir added: “Estrella TV’s extensive and diverse programming portfolio is being made available worldwide on multiple platforms after having become proven with Hispanic viewers in the U.S. who, in a very short time span, have made the network extremely competitive in markets across the country.”
