Canadian speciality net W Network is launching two series on May 16 – a hidden camera game show, Deal With It, and the entrepreneurial series Backyard Inventors.

The Corus Entertainment-owned network will air the shows back to back on its Wednesday schedule.

Produced by Gorilla Media, Backyard Inventors is a 14 x 30-minute series following innovation expert Doug Hall as he travels across Canada in search of everyday inventors with exceptional ideas. He will mentor the inventors at Eureka! Ranch, where their inventions will be re-worked, re-tooled and turned into marketable products.

Deal With It is a 10 x 30-minute series from Just For Laughs Television, in which contestants are asked to perform an increasingly difficult series of challenges to win cash, all without letting their dinner companions catch on. The series is based on the Israeli format created by Keshet Broadcasting and United Studios which has been produced in over 10 countries.

“While very different shows, they both play on the theme that creativity mixed with bravery can lead to a windfall,” said Vibika Bianchi, vice president of original programming, lifestyle, reality and factual entertainment, for Corus Entertainment. “Backyard Inventors offers a chance to root for amateur inventors as they bring their ideas for everyday products to life and potential financial success. Deal With It challenges diners to a surprise game of outrageous gags for money while their unsuspecting dinner companion watches in awe.”
