A+E Networks is to launch History HD in Turkey on Digiturk and has licensed several hours of History programming, as well as History 3D content, for the digital platform’s VOD service.

The channel will air franchises and specials such as Pawn Stars, American Pickers and America: The Story of US. The standard definition version of History has been available in Turkey on Digiturk since 2002.

Dean Possenniskie, A+E Networks’ MD for EMEA, said: “I am confident that this new channel will appeal to viewers in Turkey.”

History HD becomes the latest U.S. cable net to enter the Turkish market. Earlier this month, Discovery launched a 3D service in Turkey through Digiturk and last year National Geographic began airing 3D programming in the country via its HD channel.
