USA Network is moving into reality programming, unveiling a slate of titles as part of its annual Upfront, including a pilot pick-up of Bride or Best Man (working title) from Shed Media.
The network bills the reality show as a “bromantic comedy” with a twist, with a groom and his best man being left in charge of planning the ‘big day’ of a wedding.
In addition, Romancing the Globe is a new relationship series in development from exec producer Mark Burnett and his One Three Media. The show promises to this series take participants “on a globe-trotting search for love that leads to the potential of ultimate betrayal.”
The slate also includes two previously announced projects – the pilot for The Choir, from Shed Media; and the recently greenlit series The Moment, from The Hochberg Ebersol Company.
In a statement, USA co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel said: “As we move into the world of reality programming, we’re staying true to our brand DNA by focusing on real life characters that are every bit as fascinating, inspirational and entertaining as our scripted ones.
“These unscripted series let us welcome characters of all types, which will continue to broaden our appeal to audiences.”
In related news, U.S. broadcaster The CW also unveiled its Upfront line-up today. The network has cancelled reality show H8R, and is moving America’s Next Top Model from Wednesdays to Fridays, where it will air at 8 p.m. EST.
