BBC Worldwide will launch its first channel in Brazil on May 28.

Viewers in the country will be able to watch BBC HD through Latin American telecom giant NET Serviços’ Top HD package. The deal also includes a branded VoD service that will provide content from BBC Entertainment and the preschool channel CBeebies.

Programming will include the eighth season of Top Gear; ‘London Calling,’ a season celebrating music, fashion, art and culture in London in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games; coverage of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations; and the natural history special Planet Earth Live.

Shows will air in English with Portuguese subtitles, with a few titles dubbed into Portuguese.

“This deal will also facilitate our offering of new content for NOW, NET’s exclusive, on-demand service, that allows viewers to choose the content they wish to view when they want it,” said Fernando Magalhães, programming director for NET Serviços.

The NOW platform line-up will include BBC Entertainment and CBeebies series such as the American version of The Voice and Got To Dance UK, and kids titles such as Finley the Fire Engine and Waybuloo.
