Danger by Design, a docuseries featuring tightrope daredevil Nik Wallenda, will make its debut on the Discovery Communications net on June 18.

The six-part series, announced as part of Discovery Channel’s development slate last year under the name Life on a Wire, follows the seventh-generation descendant of the famed Wallenda family as he and his relatives continue to bring the family business of thrills and death-defying acrobatic stunts to new audiences.

Danger by Design is a great example of how mind-blowing science and engineering can be found in the most unexpected places,” said Science GM and EVP Debbie Adler Myers. “Science is excited to bring our viewers some insight into the passion, skills, ingenuity and science behind the thrills, that has driven the Wallendas to world-renowned fame.”

Prior to the series premiere, Wallenda will engage in another stunt, walking approximately 1,550 feet on a tightrope wire suspended 173 feet above Niagara Falls. The U.S.-to-Canada walk has been banned for over 125 years, and will be broadcast live on ABC on June 15.

Danger by Design is produced by RelativityREAL/The Jay and Tony Show. Executive producers are Jay Blumenfield, Tony Marsh and Tom Forman for RelativityREAL. Winston Simone and David Simone are executive producers for DSW Entertainment, and Josh Berkley is the executive producer for Science.
