Investigation Discovery to launch in Latin America

Discovery Communications' suspense and crime-focused channel will take over the company's Liv service and air in 38 Latin American countries beginning July 9.

Discovery Communications’ Latin America/US Hispanic division is taking the crime-focused cable network Investigation Discovery to Latin America.

On July 9, the channel will take over Discovery-owned entertainment channel Liv and begin airing fiction series, unscripted programming and feature films.

The channel will broadcast 24/7 to roughly 30 million subscribers in 38 countries in Latin America and its programming will be dubbed into Spanish and Portuguese.

“Investigation Discovery demonstrates our continuing commitment to offer content that captivates our audience, and it strengthens our offering of entertainment channels by focusing exclusively on suspense, crime and investigation,” said Enrique Mart√≠nez,¬†Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic’s president and general manager, in a statement.

“There is great audience demand for this type of programming at the global level and we are confident that it will also be a success in Latin America.”

The channel’s factual offerings will include Scorned: Love Kills, Deadly Sins, Unusual Suspects, Twisted, Criminal Minds, Cold Blood and Nightmare Next Door.

Globally, Investigation Discovery airs in more than 100 countries in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
