Sundance Channel launches on iPhone and iPad in Spain

The independent film channel will be available on Apple devices through IPTV service Movistar Imagenio. The news follows the network's launch on Android and Blackberry smartphones in the country.

Sundance Channel has launched on Apple’s iPhone and iPad in Spain via Telefonica’s IPTV service Movistar Imagenio. The move follows deals that saw the independent film channel become available on Android and Blackberry smartphones in the country.

“Sundance Channel’s launch on iPhone and iPad devices on Movistar Imagenio in Spain is a key development in the growth of our multi-platform distribution strategy internationally,” saidĀ Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC/Sundance Channel Global, in a statement. “Consumer and distributor demand for TV Everywhere access continues to grow worldwide, and we are uniquely positioned to offer broad rights for our high quality, globally renowned entertainment.”

The channel first launched on Movistar Imagenio in SpainĀ in June 2011. Upcoming documentary and film premieres include Bienvenido a Farewell-Gutmann, A Delicate Balance, The Wings of the Dove, The Yards, Sexo Con Amor, Restoration, Kimjongilia and A Flash of Green.
