Discovery Channel lures Lewers

Discovery Channel has appointed Scott Lewers, most recently with Oxygen Media, as SVP of programming, reporting to Eileen O’Neill, group president of Discovery & TLC Networks.
Lewers will lead program strategy for the Discovery Communications flagship network and will coordinate across all departments to create and conceptualize series, specials, franchises and initiatives for domestic telecast.
At Oxygen, Lewers’ most recent post was vice president of strategic multi-platform program planning & acquisitions. His first position at the NBCU cable net was director of programming, scheduling and planning.
Before Oxygen, Lewers served as manager of programming, scheduling & acquisitions at Lifetime Entertainment, following a stint there as manager of programming research.
Pre-Lifetime, Lewers worked with Nielsen Media Research as senior analyst of primary research & development.
“Scott brings great energy and creative vision to our Discovery team,” said O’Neill of the appointment. “With his formidable track record of innovations and insights, we look forward to executing on a strong programming and scheduling strategy that continues the network’s successes.”
