Big Brother producer Endemol USA has hired John P Roberts (pictured), formerly an exec at Discovery joint venture The Hub, to take on the newly created position of senior VP of digital media and commercial affairs.

Roberts joins Endemol effective immediately, based in Beverly Hills and reporting to David Goldberg, chairman and CEO of Endemol North America.

The role will see Roberts is responsible for developing new commercial and digital business opportunities in North America for Endemol USA, and its subsidiary production companies, Authentic Entertainment, Endemol Studios, 51 Minds, Original Media and True Entertainment.

His team will oversee all original digital productions, interactive TV, social games and mobile apps, as well as other commercial opportunities including live events, licensing and merchandising.

“John is a recognized innovator in digital entertainment and commercial business development,” said Goldberg.  “His success with bringing digital content and consumer products to market will be an asset to our creative digital team.”

Prior to taking on the new role, Roberts served as senior VP of digital content and cross-platform entertainment at The Hub, the kids-focused joint venture offering from Discovery Communications and Hasbro.
