Twofour adds head of comedy entertainment

Factual and entertainment prodco Twofour has tapped former Shine TV exec Darren Smith (pictured) as its head of comedy entertainment, working on unscripted series.
Reporting to creative director Andrew Mackenzie, Smith will be in charge of developing and producing new formats for UK and international broadcasters, and acting as executive producer for Twofour’s existing slate.
Twofour’s comedy entertainment titles include C4′s A Short History of Everything Else, My Funniest Year and ITV1′s Paddy’s Show & Telly.
Smith was previously Shine TV’s head of entertainment and comedy and, prior to that, was at Channel 4, commissioning a range of hit shows including 8 of 10 Cats, 10 O’Clock Live and Friday Night Dinner.
“It’s a genre we’re keen to invest in further and in Darren we’ve found someone who brings the perfect mix of production experience and talent relationships,” said Melanie Leach, Twofour MD.
