U.S. net Animal Planet is spinning off Hillbilly Handfishin’ with a bracket-style handfishing tournament and three-part mini-series, Hillbilly Handfishin’ World Series.

With an October premiere date, the mini-series from Half Yard Productions – the prodco behind the Hillbilly Handfishin‘ series (pictured above) – brings eight of the top handfishing teams from across the U.S. to Texas.

Teams of two and three will compete in noodling, the art of catching a catfish by using your bare hands, with the aim of winning the Catfish Cup Grand Prize. With Texas noodler Brady Knowlton on board as master of ceremonies, each one-hour episode features teams competing in bracket-style rounds, filmed in the murky waters of Texas.

Sean Gallagher and Abby Greensfelder serve as executive producers for Half Yard Productions, while Keith Hoffman is exec producer for Animal Planet.
