UK net Channel 5 will put eight unwitting candidates through the job of a lifetime in Secret Interview (pictured), a coproduction from Twofour and GroupM Entertainment debuting later this month.

In each episode, candidates believe they are filming a documentary about their workplace, but are actually about to have an interview for the job of a lifetime, without knowing its happening. As their prospective new boss, who is at the top of their respective industry, watches undetected, each person is tested to their limits by undercover actors aiming to create chaos.

The bosses include Michelin starred chef Jason Atherton, property tycoon Kevin Green, Glamour editor Jo Elvin and hair stylist to the stars Nicky Clarke.

Episodes will feature aspiring chefs, hopeful real estate agents, hairdressers and fashionistas. “No one likes being interviewed, but this show takes it to a new level. Our candidates don’t even know it’s happening and that they are being judged by some of the biggest names in their field of work,” said Ian Dunkley, C5′s commissioning editor for factual entertainment.

“This is one of the formats we’re most excited by. It feels entertaining and timely, rewarding good people with a step up the ladder without them even knowing they’re being cunningly tested,” added Andrew Mackenzie, Twofour’s creative director.
