The special will document the planning and construction of the Discovery Channel Telescope, the fifth-largest telescope in the continental U.S, based in the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Scanning the Skies will also feature interviews with Dr. Jeff Hall, director of the Lowell Observatory, and other Lowell astronomers on their mission to bring the latest from our solar system to viewers.
Discovery’s news website, Discovery News, will offer live coverage of night sky events and Discovery Education will bring videos, images and research from the Discovery Channel Telescope to classrooms around the world.
