Lifetime renames Houston family docuseries, sets airdate

U.S. network Lifetime will launch The Houstons: On Our Own on October 24 at 9 p.m. EST/PST.

Previously known as The Houston Family Chronicles, the Jarrett Creative-produced series follows the people closest to deceased singer Whitney Houston, including her daughter Bobbi Kristina, her sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston, Pat’s daughter Rayah, Whitney’s brother Gary,  family friend Nick Gordon, and her mother and Grammy Award-winning singer Cissy Houston.

The 14 x 30-minute series sees the Houston family coming together to deal with the loss of the pop music icon, and focuses on her 19-year-old daughter, who goes by Krissy.

Ahead of the series premiere, Lifetime will air the one-hour special Remembering Whitney, on October 17  at 9 p.m. EST/PST. The special will feature never-before-seen footage, interviews, private home videos and family photos, and insights from family members.
