Shortly after premiering Flea Market Flip, HGTV in the U.S. has put in a second season renewal order, to be presented again by Good Morning America co-host Lara Spencer.

The second season order of eight 30-minute episodes is slated to premiere in early 2013. Spencer, who is also The New York Times bestselling author of I Brake For Yard Sales?, hosts the series, which sees two teams of flea market shoppers competing to win US$5,000.

Contestants have one hour and $500 to turn their finds into items worthy of purchase. The crews head to a “flip” warehouse to transform their purchases before they head to the next challenge, to sell their pieces the next day. The series, which launched on September 28, currently airs on HGTV at 9 p.m. EST.

Flea Market Flip combines elements of competition, design, DIY and bargain hunting,” said Kathleen Finch, HGTV’s general manager, “and since our viewers enjoy the latest trends and the fall flea market season is upon us, it is the perfect time to renew the series. With Lara leading the charge, this friendly competition show is fun and highly entertaining.”
