Metan Development Group has optioned Ukrainian competition series Go Dance! from Star Media Group, Studio Kvartal-95 and Inter TV channel for the territory of China.

Beijing-based production company Mei Tian Mei Yu will develop and adapt the format for Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking audiences.

Go Dance! sees huge teams of dancers, often numbering up to 500, prepare a dance number with choreographers before performing in a two-hour live dance competition.  TV viewers and a jury determine the winning team, which receives a cash prize and the title of ‘Dance Capital’ for their home town.

The show has already seen three seasons in Ukraine on Inter TV channel, and the format has been sold to MY Tupelo Entertainment in the U.S.

“The epic scale, drive, audience appeal and unity that Go Dance! emanates, continues to attract more and more fans worldwide,” said Vladimir Zelensky, art director of Studio Kvartal-95. “And now China, the world’s most populated country, famous for its mass dance performances, has acquired the production and broadcast rights to the Ukrainian format Go Dance!”
