Tel Aviv- and London-based Keshet International has sold the rights to the reality format Marathon to Banijay Productions France for the French market.
The aspirational format, which Kuperman Productions has made for a 2013 TX date on Channel 2 in Israel, sees five people with no athletic background training for a marathon in just eight months.
They are assigned a world-class coach, who creates a training program for each participant.
“Marathon is an ambitious format with universal themes of fitness, personal battles and triumph against all odds,” said Keren Shahar, Keshet International’s head of distribution and acquisitions. “We have high expectations for the format when it premieres in Israel next year and we are already in advanced discussions with a number of international broadcasters.”
