Har’el, Noujaim among Chicken & Egg grantees

Chicken & Egg Pictures has chosen 25 up-and-coming and established female filmmakers, including Bombay Beach‘s Alma Har’el (pictured) and Control Room‘s Jehane Noujaim, to receive a total of US$220,000 in grants.

The grant categories include early development funding, called I Believe in You grants; finishing funding via the Liberty grant; and Celebration grants, which honor trailblazing veteran women filmmakers.

This year’s Celebration grant went to Lourdes Portillo, who will put the grant towards the development of Night Passages, which examines her own journey through cervical cancer.
