Lifetime Networks has named two VPs of reality programming, with Kimberly Chessler promoted and TruTV exec Paul Hardy joining the company.
Based in New York, Hardy and Chessler will be responsible for developing and overseeing production of non-fiction projects for Lifetime. They both report to Gena McCarthy, Lifetime Networks’ senior VP of reality and alternative programming.
Most recently, Hardy was director of program development for TruTV, where he developed series such as Swamp Hunters, Possum Holler Garage and Killer Karaoke. Before taking the role, he was director of development for Embassy Row Productions.
Chessler, meanwhile, joined Lifetime in 2010 as senior director of reality programming. She has been responsible for overseeing the development and production of the network’s docu-soap Dance Moms and the reality competition series Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition.
“Kim has been instrumental in building the Dance Moms franchise into a cultural phenomenon and major hit for Lifetime,” said McCarthy. “I am very pleased to recognize her many contributions to the company with this much deserved promotion.”
She added that Hardy “brings to Lifetime a proven track record, strong relationships in the unscripted space and a unique perspective on where the genre is heading.”
