Realscreen is beginning its call for submissions for its annual MIPTV Picks feature.

Appearing in our March/April MIPTV issue and online at realscreen.com, MIPTV Picks shines the spotlight on several “can’t miss” projects making their way to the market, as selected by the realscreen editorial team.

Thus, realscreen is asking for online clip submissions in six categories:

• Factual Entertainment

• History

• Lifestyle

• Music, Arts & Culture

• Political, Social & Religious

• Science & Nature

Upload your new clips (around five to eight minutes in length at the most, but one- to two-minute trailers are fine as well), and our editorial panel will select the best of the submissions to feature in our upcoming MIPTV issue and on realscreen.com. The clip the panel ranks highest will be named Best in Show.

Certain rules apply:

i) Clips must be submitted through the realscreen site (www.realscreen.com/upload/ – to the attention of Barry Walsh) on or before Thursday, February 21, 2013. In the ‘Instructions’ box, please include some background on the project (production company partners, distributor/distributors, rights available, broadcasters, if any). (Ignore the ‘Advertiser’ box.);

ii) Clips must be from new projects coming to MIP for the first time in filmed form (projects previously pitched are acceptable, providing filming had not wrapped previous to MIPCOM 2012);

iii) Up to three (3) clips may be submitted from any one production company;

iv) Format suggestions: video compression format H.264 is the recommended compression format (preferably QuickTimes or WMVs). Any other format will be recompressed again, resulting in degradation of the video. Frame Rate: max 30fps. Bitrate: 800kbits/sec. Quality: Best. Size: Maximum width 360px, regardless of aspect ratio

Audio format: AAC. Channels: Stereo or Mono. Rate: 44.1Khz

Prepare for Internet Streaming: Fast Start, or Fast Start – Compressed Header

As a guideline, this should produce videos that are less than 5MB per 30 seconds. Please do not upload files which exceed that guideline.

Thanks and good luck.
