ITV Studios has appointed Alexander Gardiner as director of factual for ITV Studos UK in a departmental restructuring.

The UK-based producer is consolidating its Manchester-based Shiver and London Factual production arms into one department branded under the Shiver label. The team will be based in London, Manchester and Leeds.

Gardiner, formerly the creative director of ITV Studios Factual North and Shiver, will now oversee series previously produced under the London Factual banner such as ITV’s Piers Morgan’s Life Stories and Pride Of Britain as well as Channel 4′s Come Dine with Me.

“Alex is a brilliant producer and is incredibly creative,” said ITV Studios UK managing director Denise O’Donoghue in a statement. “His wide ranging experience made him a natural choice for the job and I’m sure that he will make a seamless transition into this new role where he will continue to bolster ITV Studios’ factual slate.”

Gardiner joined ITV in 1995. His production credits include 56 Up, The Dales, The Martin Lewis Money Show and Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs, as well as daytime formats such as Ade in Britain and May The Best House Win.

He recently executive produced Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile, the program that exposed accusations of pedophilia against the late TV personality and led to a sweeping police investigation that rocked Britain.

He will continue to report to O’ Donoghue.
