American talk show host Wendy Williams is forming her own prodco, with a focus on reality, game and talk shows for the cable and broadcast markets.

Williams, host of nationally syndicated The Wendy Williams Show, is undertaking the venture with husband and manager Kevin Hunter, and partnering with Debmar-Mercury, the producer/distributor of Williams’ talk show.

Wendy Williams Productions has brought on Lisa Knapp, head of development for Married to the Army: Alaska prodco 44 Blue Productions from 2008-2010, as its SVP of development. Williams, meanwhile, will serve as executive producer on the company’s projects, and may also have an on-camera role in some.

“As anyone who watches my show knows, I am a huge fan of all reality and game shows, and know a thing or two about talk,” said Williams in a statement. “Lisa has spent a career creating and producing the kind of television shows I love, and we are thrilled to have her guide our development efforts. We don’t plan on wasting much time, so stay tuned for some must-see programming ahead.”

Jill Ramsey, who currently serves as VP of Wendy Inc. and negotiated the deal on behalf of Williams and Hunter, will also take on the role of VP at the prodco.
