Samuel Goldwyn picks up “Somm”

Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired North American rights for Jason Wise’s wine-focused documentary Somm (pictured), which it will release this summer.

The doc, filmed in six countries over two years , chronicles the lives of four men as they prepare to take the extremely challenging Master Sommelier exam.

The film recently screened at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and is produced by Forgotten Man Films. The producers are Wise, Christina Wise and Jackson Myers with William Fowler exec producing.

The deal was negotiated by Ian Puente of Goldwyn Films, with Cliff Gilbert-Lurie of Ziffren Brittenham LLP acting on behalf of the filmmakers.
